Get Some Soul in your Bowl!Ever had a pantry full of different sauces/marinades that you can't seem to keep them organized or even worse you forget you have them altogether? I sure did...until I found Johnny Jambalaya's Herb Marinade and Dressing! This recipe is a one stop shop for everything! Pasta salads, raw vegetables, chicken, shrimp, I mean honestly the list goes on and on and on. Not to mention the kick ace slogan "Add Some Soul to your Bowl" MARKETING GENUIS! I love it! The history on this stuff and how it came about is so awesome I just HAVE to share it with everyone! Let's just say we have to thank Oak Alley Plantation for more than it's beautiful plantaion and historic oak trees. You see, there was this cool guy Johnny "Jambalaya" Percle (Johnny Jam for short) who was a successful, well known south Louisiana chef that cooked for the best of the best. Allow me to name drop a few: The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, Blondie (love!), KISS, Chicago and he even cooked up a little country for Jimmy Buffet! This man had done it all until an opportunity came around that had a milestone hidden in it that he couldn't even imagine.... He accepted the role of Executive Chef at Oak Alley Plantaion and found the love of his life in co-worker Terry Thomassie. The two were smitten for each other and as fate would have it, exchanged vows under the famously exquisite oaks at Oak Alley. They enjoyed so many things in life and cooking was one of their favorites! All of their cooking experiences led them to create this marinade/dressing in 1982 and Oak Alley proudly served it out of mason jars on the plantaion grounds. Fast forwarding a few years, Johnny Jam and Terry found themselves at Nottoway Plantation where the dressing was labeled "Nottoway Herb Dressing and Marinade" and it was the premier house dressing for the on grounds restaurant! All of the guests who dined in the restaurant LOVED the way it tasted and would always ask "why don't yall sell this stuff where I can buy it?!" Surprisingly enough, 30 years later people are still asking the same question! This stuff ain't no secret y'all its a kitchen savior! Lucky for us customers, they recently re-branded the dressing as pictured below and are now bottling it out of New Orleans, Louisiana. This stuff is so versitile you won't be able to live without it once you try it! It is definitely my go to lifesaver for all my meals! The pictures below include a pasta salad we made with the dressing and a few promotional pictures I did for their company! What are you waiting for?!
