this very day last year, i said goodbye to one of the most remarkable and influencial women in my life, my grandma. she was everything a grand-daughter could dream of. she was my rock and my guidance as an adult...and my partner in crime with her childlike imagination when i was younger.

i do not think there was anything she couldn't do...she was my real life superhero. she has been there for all of my firsts in life: my first breath on earth (birth..duh!), my first steps, my first words, meeting my brother for the first time, communion, reconcilitaion, confirmation, graduations, moving days, engagement, wedding, baby shower, and the birth of my child. while she was not on earth for the kerrington's arrival i know she got to hold her before me, see her beautiful alert eyes before me, hold her tiny little fingers before me and for that...i am not jealous but grateful. my selfish bones wanted to see them meet for the first time but i can only imagine how marvelous it was.

while today is extremely hard for my family...i feel we must continue to celebrate her life; this is the only way i will continue to hear her laugh, remember her beautiful smile, and hear her meek but powerful voice of reason. i pray for my family today that we remain content in remembering the amazing life she had instead of weeping over the lives she left. i agree that she left us too soon but she has bestowed grace upon me as i enter the waters of parenthood. i know she is present in kerrington's life everyday and i am so glad she is up there helping me!
